Chocolate Balsamic Marinated Steak

Chocolate Balsamic Marinated Steak

This unique marinade brings a deep, complex flavor to the steak, combining sweet, tangy, and savory notes.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ribeye steaks (or your preferred cut, about 1 inch thick)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional for extra umami)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or brown sugar)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade:

    • In a bowl, whisk together chocolate balsamic vinegar, olive oil, soy sauce, honey, garlic, black pepper, and salt.
  2. Marinate the Steaks:

    • Place the steaks in a zip-top bag or shallow dish.
    • Pour the marinade over the steaks, ensuring they are well-coated.
    • Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. Cook the Steaks:

    • Remove the steaks from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature.
    • Heat a grill or cast-iron skillet over high heat.
    • Sear the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare (internal temperature of 130°F/54°C), or cook to your preferred doneness.
  4. Rest the Steaks:

    • Remove from heat and let the steaks rest for 5-7 minutes to retain juices.
  5. Serve:

    • Slice against the grain and drizzle with any remaining warmed marinade for extra flavor.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Pair with garlic mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, or a crisp green salad.
  • A glass of bold red wine like Cabernet Sauvignon complements this dish beautifully.
